JO's Favorite Categories is an extension for Joomla that allows you to view articles from one or more categories. It facilitates the presentation of specific content on a Joomla site by grouping and displaying articles according to user-defined criteria.

I maintain the source code on  Github/mod_jofavcats which is made compatible Joomla 5.x
